Jiva Hoa Lu Retreat
Ninh Binh, Vietnam
Tucked among the dramatic limestone landscapes of Ninh Binh, Jiva Hoa Lu Retreat is an intimate hideaway where heritage, nature and privacy come together. Inspired by a traditional Northern Vietnamese village, the retreat features restored wooden residences, red-tiled roofs, handcrafted furnishings and natural materials. Set within the Tràng An Landscape Complex, Vietnam’s first and only dual UNESCO World Heritage Site, Jiva offers a peaceful base from which to experience the region’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Accommodation ranges from elegant rooms and villas to spacious two-bedroom suites and heritage villas, with larger private houses offering multiple bedrooms, indoor-outdoor dining and private infinity pools. The unique Trà Garden features four bedrooms, a private garden and traditional tea pavilion.
Dining celebrates the destination, from Vietnamese and international flavours at Nhật Yên to seasonal tasting experiences in the restored 125-year-old Hạt Gạo church. The Tea House offers intimate ceremonies inspired by Vietnam’s tea traditions, through intimate ceremonies and rituals. The Cellar Door and Pool Bar provide further options for relaxed drinks and socialising.
Wellness is centred around Chỉ Quán Spa, a tranquil sanctuary inspired by ancient Vietnamese wisdom, mindfulness and traditional techniques. Guests can also enjoy cultural and outdoor experiences including cooking classes, heritage walks, boat tours, e-bike excursions and craft workshops.
Jiva’s connection to its surroundings extends to its approach to sustainability and cultural preservation. The retreat incorporates local stone, native planting, artisan-made furnishings and regional produce, alongside initiatives including the restoration of historic Ninh Bình houses, local employment and sourcing, plastic-free in-room amenities, solar power integration and composting.
